A man who used Viagra to treat a headache suffered brain damage after a bottle of the drug was confiscated by police.
A 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of selling a sex enhancement drug at a pharmacy in Dublin, Dublin city centre.
The man was charged with trafficking in the drug and with conspiracy, and possession of a controlled substance, in relation to the sale of the drug.
The arrest report said: "The man sold the Viagra in an attempt to treat his headache, as an alternative to buying the drug from a pharmacy. The pharmacy sold the drug at a price of $5 per tablet, which cost $14 per tablet. The man said he was going to purchase it, so he did it on the same day he sold the drug in Dublin.
The man said the pharmacy offered him a prescription for the drug, but he was unable to get it from the pharmacy.
"The pharmacy did not sell the drug for any other reason, but instead it was a way to purchase Viagra," the report said. "The man also said he did not want to give the pharmacist any money to buy it at his house."
The man was also charged with making false or misleading statements to police, as well as selling the drug at a pharmacy.
A probe by the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy is being carried out by the Irish Government.

The NABP has a number of pharmacies that it has seized and is working with to improve the quality of the drugs they sell.A spokesman for the Department of Health (DH) said: "We know that a large number of people who buy medications online don't get the medications they need. The government is aware that some of these people are at high risk of getting dangerous drugs from online pharmacies.
"Further, we will work with the HSA and HRA to investigate this matter and will hold an investigation into the online pharmacies that are selling the drugs.
"The NABP will also report to the Department of Health as soon as possible, when it is able to do so.
